Favorite Person to Spend the Day With: His Cousin Jeremy

Joshua Byers is a junior at Henry Ford II, and he’s no newbie to football. He says that he was born into a football family and has played since the age of five. However, this is the first time that he has won one of Local 4′s 4Frenzy Fan Choice Awards.

All in the Family

It would be safe to say that Joshua’s favorite sport is football. He says that he has a close connection to family and friends through the sport, which started with father. Josh’s father coached football and played during his time in college. However, it doesn’t stop just there - Josh’s cousins play, too.

Joshua made a new family when he started playing for Henry Ford II. He says he immediately bonded with his teammates. In total, Josh will have four families this year - he plays basketball, as well as football, and plans to join the track team come springtime.

You Can "Snap Count" on Josh

Josh says that football has helped him conquer his personal adversity. “Sometimes I’m really hard on stuff when things go the wrong way. I’ve really worked this season on keeping positive and keeping my team positive.”

At the end of the day, academics still hold priority over everything else. As Josh puts it, “School is going to take me where I want to go in life.” He says that for anyone who wants to get into football while in school, “Focus on academics first and the sport will come after.” Josh is confidant that dedication will lead to future success.

Being a winner himself, that’s some sage advice from Joshua! Congratulations on your “Favorite Quarterback” Fan Choice Award!
