Michigan basketball game postponed Saturday due to COVID-19 cases in Penn State program

ANN ARBOR, Mich.Michigan basketball’s game against Penn State on Saturday has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Penn State program.

The Wolverines were scheduled to travel to Happy Valley for a 2:15 p.m. tipoff Saturday, but the game has been postponed. This is the third straight postponement for the Nittany Lions, who were forced to call off games against Wisconsin and Ohio State this week.

Penn State’s game against Rutgers on Tuesday (Jan. 12) has also been postponed.

“The institutions will work with the Big Ten Conference to identify rescheduling options,” Penn State said in a release. “No determination has been made on how the pause may impact scheduled games beyond Jan. 12.”

Michigan is scheduled to play No. 16 Minnesota at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ann Arbor. Its next game will now be played Tuesday (Jan. 12) against Wisconsin, also in Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines are off to a 9-0 start this season under second-year head coach Juwan Howard. They are ranked No. 10 in the AP poll heading into Wednesday’s matchup.

In the first meeting against Penn State this season, Michigan survived, 62-58, after trailing in the final minutes at the Crisler Center.
