What are the best and worst parts of Thanksgiving?

Friends of ‘Live In The D’ talk about food, football, and festivities

The countdown is on until Thanksgiving, and that means turkey, stuffing, Lions football, and floats making their way down Woodward Avenue. Ahead of Thanksgiving, the holiday was the topic of discussion during What’s the Buzz on “Live In The D”.

Comedian Melanie Hearn and April “AP” Lockett, the host of “The AP Show”, appeared on “Live In The D” to talk with host Tati Amare and guest-host magician and comedian Jasen Magic.

To start the conversation, Tati asked the group whether food, football, or festivities first come to mind when they think of Thanksgiving.

“Football, then food, then festivities,” Melanie answered.

“All I care about is the game,” AP said.

Next, the group talked about Thanksgiving dinner and if their favorite is the turkey or the side dishes. Jasen said his favorite is turkey. Potato salad is AP’s favorite dish on Thanksgiving. Melanie said she thinks you need a plate of sides.

Tati also asked the group if they like cranberry sauce, which often gets a mixed reaction. Tati, Jasen, and Melanie agreed that they like cranberry sauce. Meanwhile, AP said she’s never tasted cranberry sauce.

The group also talked about their Thanksgiving traditions. Melanie said going to the parade is her family’s Thanksgiving tradition. AP shared that her family pulls names for Christmas presents on Thanksgiving.

The conversation also included talking about the kids’ table and when it’s time for a family member to move to the adults’ table and when is the best time to eat Thanksgiving dinner.
