A Delta Air Lines flight headed to Detroit from Maine on Sunday had to make an emergency landing due to a mechanical issue, the airline said.

The flight was supposed to arrive at Detroit Metro Airport from Portland, Maine Sunday afternoon, but it was diverted to and landed in Buffalo, New York.

Delta Air Lines released the following statement regarding the diverted flight:

“Delta flight 3757 from Portland (PWM) to Detroit (DTW) diverted and landed safely in Buffalo, New York (BUF) due to a mechanical issue,” the airline said in a statement. “Delta teams are working to get customers to their final destination and we apologize for their delay in travel. The safety of Delta’s customers and employees is always our top priority.”
