4Warn Weather – If you didn’t rake the leaves and cut back your plants, the window of opportunity might have come and gone.
Meteorological winter starts Monday, and it looks like an arctic blast will keep things frozen for quite some time.
Snow moves in after 8 p.m.-9 p.m. and will become widespread by midnight.
This will likely be a slow, steady snow throughout the night, ending by around daybreak or just before.
The closer you live to the Ohio border, the more snow you will see.
Expect a fresh two inches in Monroe County, and the southern parts of Wayne County will be helped by a surface breeze off Lake Erie.
Isolated areas could see up to 3 inches; most of Metro Detroit will pick up 1 to 2 inches south of M-59. North of M-59 will likely only see a dusting at best.
Skies will clear after 7 a.m., which begs the question: “What about the morning commute?”
As long as road crews are out overnight into the early morning hours, we should be in ok shape.
But as you know, even a small amount of snow on a morning commute can cause some slowdowns.
Not the morning to hit the snooze alarm.
An arctic front moves through Wednesday night, bringing us another shot of snow and possibly a few snow squalls.
But the main concern will be the temps behind the front.
Expect lows to drop to the single digits in some spots by Thursday morning.
Highs on Thursday will struggle to reach the low to mid-20s.
