Police searching for suspect who shot dog, fired gun near Ann Arbor home

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Police are actively searching for a suspect who shot a dog and fired multiple gunshots near a residence in the 1800 block of Weldon in Ann Arbor early Sunday morning.

At around 4:05 a.m. on Dec. 7, officers responded to the home after a homeowner confronted a man attempting to break into a car in the driveway.

During the confrontation, the family dog exited the home and was shot by the suspect, who fled on foot.

As the suspect ran, he fired additional rounds that struck a nearby house.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as an adult male dressed entirely in black with a black face covering.

Police conducted an extensive search, including K9 tracking and drone support from Northfield Township Police, but have not located the suspect.

Ann Arbor Police Chief Andre Anderson called the incident “an extremely dangerous act” and pledged to use all available resources to find the suspect.
