Tech Time: Grocery robot Gita

DETROIT – If you have ever found yourself thinking "I really need to go grocery shopping, I'm just dreading having to carry all that stuff," then we have some good news for you.

A new autonomous robot is in development that could forever change the way we shop for groceries.

The robot, named Gita, is designed to carry your groceries and other things from the store straight to your door. Gita can haul approximately 40 pounds and the designers say Gita is expected to be able to go into stores alone while the customer waits in the car for it to return.

Gita was developed by a Boston start-up company and is funded by the same company that makes Vespa scooters.
