Officials seize 21 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine at Ambassador Bridge
WINDSOR, Ontario โ Around 21 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine was seized by officials at the Ambassador Bridge on Sept. 22. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) made the discovery. They said the meth was found with a Brampton resident and is estimated to be worth about $2.7 million. During the examination, border services officers discovered a duffel bag filled with packages of suspected methamphetamine. Jaspreet Singh, 29, of Brampton, Ontario is charged with Importation of Scheduled I substance and Possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A photographer who climbed 151 feet to the very top of the highly guarded Ambassador Bridge posted photos from on top of the bridgeโs sign, raising major questions about security. The photographer said youโll never know his name, but heโs posted images from the very top of the Brooklyn Bridge, high above New York City and on top of the Crescent City Connection Bridge in New Orleans. He posted photos from 151 feet in the air above Detroit, at the very top of the highly guarded, supposedly secure Ambassador Bridge. Customers and Border Patrol officials secure the major international crossing, but the bridge is privately owned by the International Bridge Company, which is responsible for security. Debating whether hazardous materials should be transported over Detroitโs Ambassador Bridge
DETROIT โ On Monday, Local 4 News went one on one with Ambassador Bridge officials to talk about whether they should be allowed to transport hazardous materials over the international crossing. The state confirmed to Local 4 a request has been made from the Ambassador Bridge to allow hazmat to cross over it. But at the same time the Michigan Department of Transportation says they asked for certain information from the Ambassador Bridge company months ago and still have not received anything. Typically, the Ambassador Bridge company doesnโt do many interviews. The bridge company has many letters of endorsement including one from they Wayne County Sheriff.

Despite travel restrictions, more than 80 guns seized at Michigan ports of entry this year
DETROIT Since COVID-19 travel restrictions began March 21, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at Michigan ports of entry have seized more weapons than they did in all of 2019. That includes pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns and more. With so many weapons seized at the border with restricted travel, Local 4 Defenders want to know how could this be happening? In 2019, only 62 firearms were seized. So far this year, 81 firearms and 4,000 rounds of ammunition have been seized during a period of restricted travel due to COVID-19.
Should hazardous materials be allowed to be transported on the Ambassador Bridge?
DETROIT The owners of the 91-year-old suspension bridge across the Detroit River asked the Michigan Department of Transportation to allow trucks carrying flammable, chemical or corrosive materials to cross the bridge. An estimated 10,000 trucks cross the Ambassador Bridge every day and bridge owners are pushing for a change to allow trucks carrying Class 3 Flammable liquids and HAZMAT Class 8 Corrosive substances to be transported over the 4-lane bridge. We dont need to be adding potential hazardous material slips onto the bridge or into the river, Chang said. His ferry is allowed to transport trucks carrying hazardous materials and admits this change would affect his business. Meantime, the Wayne County Commission unanimously voted to urge Michigan officials to block the bridge from allowing the HAZMAT to be transported.

DETROIT โ Longtime Detroit businessman, and owner of the Ambassador Bridge, Manuel โMattyโ Moroun, has died at 93, according to his family. The Moroun family, which has stakes in other transportation businesses, has a net worth of more than $1 billion, according to Forbes. โThe Detroit Regional Chamber extends its condolences to the family and friends of Manuel โMattyโ Moroun โ especially to his son Matt and wife Nora who are so engaged in our community. Matty Moroun was a self-made success story. With his passing, we celebrate his life and the family he built in Detroit,โ said Sandy K. Baruah, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber.
