University of Michigan women’s soccer team prepares for first competition in more than a year
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – In a usual February, the University of Michigan Women’s Soccer season would be over and done with but because of COVID-19, it’s just beginning. The team spoke with Local 4 about last year and their layoff from game competition. They had a Big 10 final appearance and they made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. They want to win the Big 10 and make it farther in the NCAA Tournament than they did last year.

After presidents meet, Big Ten football still in limbo
The Big Ten presidents were presented a comprehensive plan Sunday to conduct a fall football season, but a final decision is still to come. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Big Ten was not making its return to competition plans public. The person said the meeting broke up without the presidents and chancellors voting and with no set plans for them to reconvene. Still, if they act quickly Big Ten football could kickoff as soon as the weekend of Oct. 17. That schedule could set up Big Ten teams to be part of the College Football Playoff.

Big Ten football could exclude University of Michigan, Michigan State this season, Trump tweets
Big Ten members University of Michigan and Michigan State University could be excluded from the next football season, according to a tweet posted by U.S. President Donald Trump. Had a very productive conversation with Kevin Warren, Commissioner of the Big Ten Conference, about immediately starting up Big Ten football, Trump tweeted last week. A court filing disclosed on Aug. 31 showed that Big Ten Conference presidents voted 11-3 to postpone the football season due to the pandemic. The University of Michigans football season was originally slated to start this weekend. Trumps tweet on Sunday also comes a days after the Michigan High School School Athletic Association (MHSAA) reinstated football and other high school sports.
