Oklahoma town eases pandemic, one restaurant meal at a time
(Zack's Cafe via AP)NEW YORK – In Miami, Oklahoma, restaurants and their customers are doing their part to ease pandemic heartache, one meal at a time. Many recipients are homeless or have otherwise hit hard times since the pandemic rolled into Miami (pronounced my-AM-uh), population about 13,000. NOW studios gives visitors opportunity to ask questions, explore, experience change and play
Owned by Petals and Bubbles Sandcastle, the studios are a springboard for change and to dismantle unproductive mindsets. That space allowed community members to pay their own price and use the space for anything, from music festivals to moth storytelling. Community members can choose from three price points or pick their own price. NOW studios is a safe space to explore, express and process, and spaces like the downtown Ann Arbor studio seem to work. Community members can tune into NOW programming via live streaming and social media platforms.

This Church has been transformed into a café
Detroit – For over 100 years people have been meeting at this old church in the Atkinson Avenue neighborhood of Detroit, but now people are gathering for a new reason, delicious food and drinks! In March of this year, the church opened its doors again, as The Congregation, a café. One of the major features you see in the space is a large organ. You will also spot beautifully restored stained glass around the building, as well as old pews, and other church furniture. Out front their sign says “Café, Coffee, Cocktails, and Community” and that is exactly what they offer.
