DETROIT – Police are still investigating several fatal hit-and-run cases that have yet to be solved. One Detroit mother knows the pain of losing a loved and is hoping that no one else has to experience something similar. Detroit police are still looking for the drivers responsible for multiple fatal hit-and-run incidents across the city, including Emory’s case. LANSING, Mich. – Michigan averaged about 3,000 new coronavirus cases a day from Thursday through Saturday, the state health department said. The state also reported 265 additional deaths from COVID-19, including 211 from days or weeks ago that were confirmed through a records check. DETROIT – The city of Detroit is set to unveil a collage image with the faces of 900 of the city’s COVID-19 victims. The city was hit particularly hard by the coronavirus in March and April. Overall, the Detroit Health Department reports 13,522 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,507 deaths related to the disease since March. The collage of victim’s faces will be used during the memorial drive on Monday, Aug. 31, Mayor Mike Duggan’s office said. Families of victims had been encouraged to share photos for the collage.

On Saturday, May 2, the state reported about 23,500 active cases of COVID-19, the lowest such total since April 13. We’ve been tracking the state’s active coronavirus cases right here, giving us a good look at the “curve” along with total COVID-19 cases reported to date in Michigan. DETROIT – Michigan health officials are asking residents to pick up the phone, because it could be information related to COVID-19. During the COVID-19 pandemic in Michigan, local health departments and staff from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) are reaching out to Michiganders who have tested positive as well as to the contacts of those individuals. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel recently issued a reminder to residents to be on alert for scammers spoofing numbers from local health departments. MDHHS wants residents to be aware of how to determine a scam call from a legitimate call from the health department. Local health departments and MDHHS will not:Offer medication for treatment or prevention of COVID-19.
