DETROIT โ The Detroit Riverfront has been named the best riverwalk in America in USA Todayโs 10Best Readersโ Choice Travel Award Contest. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy announced the news on Friday. โThe Detroit Riverfront is a very special place for our city and we are honored by this recognition,โ said Matt Cullen, board chairman of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. โEvery great city has a place where the entire community comes together,โ said Mark Wallace, president and CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Since March, use of the Detroit Riverwalk has increased 20 percent and Dequindre Cut usage has increased by 40 percent.

Detroit Riverfront Conservancy hosting Friday fundraiser
DETROIT โ The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is hosting a new physically-distant but socially-connected fundraiser, #BeingApartTogether, on Friday (Oct. 16). The fundraiser is a celebration of the role Detroit Riverfront parks play in the community. As part of the fundraiser, there will be a free virtual broadcast of musical performances by local artists along the riverfront. It will be available for the community to enjoy on the Detroit Riverfront Conservancyโs Facebook page. Supporters of the fundraiser will receive a package curated in partnership with Detroitโs own City Bird, which is filled with limited-edition riverfront items, locally-sourced gifts and unique activities.

DETROIT โ A deal has been reached to fix the Detroit Riverfront where a dock collapsed, spilling contaminated soil into the river. On Monday, Revere Dock signed an administrative consent agreement with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. As part of the deal, the restoration work at the site is expected to be done by July 2021. In May, this litigation produced an agreement, requiring Revere Dock, LLC to obtain permits from EGLE and the US Army Corp of Engineers for a dock restoration. 134 Detroit Riverfront properties cited earlier this year still in violation of city code
DETROIT Detroit is cracking down on businesses along the riverfront, handing out hundreds of violations and nearly $200,000 in fines earlier this year to companies operating out of compliance. Checking records, city officials said 134 of the riverfront properties cited are still in violation of the city code. New park on Detroit Riverfront to be named in honor of former Carhartt chairman, CEO
DETROIT - A new park along the Detroit Riverfront will be named after a former chairman and CEO of Carhartt. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy announced Thursday the former Atwater Beach in the East Riverfront neighborhood will be named Robert C. Valade Park. "My dad loved the city of Detroit, and I know he would be proud to have his name associated with a partof this cultural and recreational development on the Detroit River," Mark Valade said. The park will complete a series of family-oriented parks along the East Riverfront. There will also be a floating bar named after Robert Valade.
