“It’s an interesting Friday evening activity, but hey, why not get safe on a Friday night?” asked Rana Abbas Taylor, Director of Communications and Marketing at ACCESS. “Our folks are working every single day around the clock to get those vaccines and if we could do this every night, we would do this every night.”

Metro Detroit Muslim community leaders say COVID vaccine is OK to get during Ramadan
Imad Hamad is a longtime member of the Islamic Center of Detroit and a leader in Metro Detroit’s Muslim community. Hamad is trying to spread the message that during Ramadan the COVID-19 vaccine is OK to take. During Ramadan, Muslims have to fast all day and can only eat at sundown. But Muslim community leaders, like Imam’s and scholars, are saying the vaccine has no nutritional value. He’ll get his second dose during Ramadan and said that Muslims getting the shot during Ramadan won’t have to make up days.

Dingell staffer joins Biden administration, becomes first Arab American to serve in Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs
According to Dingell, Ramadan will become the first Arab American to serve in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs. Ahmad will also be the first Arab American to serve in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs and I have no doubt he will continue to build broad coalitions throughout our federal government. It is with tremendous gratitude to both Rep. Debbie Dingell and my colleagues that I look back on my two years as a member of team Dingell. I’m honored to serve in the Biden administration and hope to make you proud. I can’t wait to celebrate the success and appointments of many more individuals in the near future,” said Ramadan.
