Rangers' 1st Scottish title in 10 years is world record 55th
Some thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium celebrating the win against St. Mirren, putting them on the brink of securing the Scottish Premiership title. A world record 55th domestic league title โ although some rivals will claim it is the reborn club's first โ was sealed after Glasgow rival Celtic drew 0-0 with Dundee United. It is the first league title ever won by Gerrard, who spent most of his playing career at Liverpool. Gerrard came agonizingly close in 2014 to finally landing the one club prize that eluded him: The Premier League title. Stuart McCall was brought back to salvage their title bid but Rangers finished third and lost in the playoffs.
Celtic slumps as dominance finally threatened in Scotland
Neil Lennon, Celticโs increasingly embattled coach, couldnโt fail to hear the commotion as he walked into his post-match media conference. Celticโs players headed to Italy on Wednesday for a Europa League match against AC Milan looking for just a third win in their last 11 games in all competitions. Even more so this season as Celtic chases an unprecedented 10th straight league title, which would close the gap to Rangers in terms of overall championship triumphs to two. Rangers, meanwhile, is taking advantage of its rival's slump, even outdoing Celtic by rising atop its Europa League group that contains Benfica. Stopping Celtic achieving โThe 10โ โ as it is often referred to Scotland โ is the biggest task this season, though.
