DETROIT – Snow moved in overnight, and a heavy band developed as it progressed northward.
South of 8 Mile Road, there will be little additional accumulation today -- perhaps just a dusting. North of 8 Mile -- and especially north of M-59 -- snow will be more persistent, and an additional inch or two is possible.

One additional point: wind blowing off of Lake Huron could generate a few lake effect snow bands, which would enhance the snow totals in a few parts of the Thumb.
Winter weather advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. Tuesday for areas generally south of M-59, and until 11 p.m. for areas generally north of M-59.
Temperatures today will only rise a couple of degrees, perhaps to near freezing (0 degrees Celsius), with a northeast wind becoming north at 10 to 15 mph.

Snow diminishes Tuesday night, with lows in the low to mid 20s (-5 degrees Celsius).
Wednesday forecast
Mostly cloudy on Wednesday, with highs in the upper 20s (-2 to -1 degree Celsius). Becoming partly cloudy and much colder Wednesday night, with lows in the low to mid teens (-11 degrees Celsius).
Thursday, Friday forecast
Partly cloudy Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid 20s (-4 degrees Celsius), and lows Thursday night again in the low to mid teens (-11 degrees Celsius).
Weekend outlook
There are some changes offered by the computer models in terms of their handling of our next storm, and the biggest change is in slowing it down. I now think we’ll be dry on Saturday, with increasing afternoon clouds. Highs in the upper 20s (-2 to -1 degree Celsius).
Sunday looks cloudy, with snow perhaps developing late in the day. Highs in the low 30s (0 degrees Celsius).
