DETROIT – A significant winter storm is coming to Southeast Michigan this weekend, and the timeline for snow is becoming more clear.
Local 4 issued a 4Warn Weather Alert for Saturday and Sunday morning because we’re expecting 4-6 inches of snowfall.
We expect the snowfall to be heaviest between 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday. Snow will begin Saturday afternoon and could continue into Sunday morning, but that window is expected to produce the majority of the snow.
This isn’t lake-effect snow. It’s a classic winter storm with a closed area of low pressure.
If you have errands to run, it would be best to take care of them on Black Friday or Saturday morning. Once the snow starts, road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly.
Drivers will have to deal with slick and dangerous conditions once it starts actively snowing. That’s why the 4Warn Weather Alert is in effect for Saturday and at least early Sunday morning.
