ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Community members done with their Christmas trees can leave them at four different spots around Ann Arbor this holiday season.

Between Dec. 11 and Jan. 15, 2024, undecorated trees can be left at drop-off locations within specific city parks between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Trees cannot have any decoration, including garlands, lights, nails, tinsel and ornaments. Wreaths, metal wiring and tree stands will not be accepted, officials said.

Here’s where you can leave your tree:

  • Bicentennial Park (2901 E. Ellsworth Rd.):  Leave trees in the dirt lot north of the basketball courts
  • West Park (215 Chapin St.): Leave in the parking lot
  • Gallup Park boat launch (on the southeast side of Geddes Road just east of Huron Parkway): Leave in the boat launch parking lot, NOT the livery lot parking lot
  • Olson Park (1515 Dhu Varren Rd.): Leave in the parking lot

Trees left at the sites will be turned into wood chips and used for compost and landscaping mulch.

Community members can put tree branches less than 6 inches in diameter into their compost carts for wintertime compost pickup.
