ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Police said a man slashed a woman across the chest with a knife because they bumped into each other on an Ann Arbor bus.

The attack happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the 2200 block of Fuller Road, which is in between the University of Michigan’s central and north campuses.

A 25-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man “bumped into each other” on an Ann Arbor Area Transit Authority bus, so the man pulled out a knife and slashed the woman across her chest, police said.

The man ran away on foot, but he was arrested by police without further incident.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. She is stable.

Detectives are investigating the link between this attack and other stabbings in Ann Arbor between March 27 and April 1.
