Man suspected of Sunday night sexual assault in Ann Arbor in custody

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A man suspected of a sexual assault that happened on Sunday evening near the University of Michigan campus is in custody, police said on Monday.

The University of Michigan Police Department began investigating an attack that happened at the Lot M-61 parking structure near Glen Avenue and Catherine Street between 6:20 and 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Officials said the victim talked with their attacker on a dating app before meeting. The assault happened in his vehicle, a Blue-colored four-door SUV.

The victim described the attacker as a slim, white man with a dark complexion who is around 22 years old and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He had short, dark hair and a close-cut beard and mustache.

He was wearing black pants and a gray shirt, according to a crime alert released by the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety and Security (UMDPSS).
