Here’s how you can skip the lines on Election Day in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The State Primary Election is happening soon which means taking time out of your day to stand in line and cast your vote.

Sometimes lines at polling places can move quickly, and other times they can move at a snail’s pace or wrap around the building.

Ann Arborites with busy schedules worried about getting to the polls on time on Tuesday, Aug. 6, can jump the line by voting early or voting absentee.

Here’s how to do that in Ann Arbor:

EARLY VOTING

Ann Arbor voters can stop by four in-person early voting sites in Tree Town to cast their ballots. Voters need to show a valid photo ID. If they can’t, they need to sign an affidavit before voting.

Early in-person voting runs from July 27 - Sunday, Aug. 4.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Registered voters in Ann Arbor can receive an absentee ballot, fill it out at home, sign it, and return it to a ballot drop by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

The city has set up outside ballot boxes at these locations:

Ballots can also be dropped off at early voting sites by Aug. 4, at Larcom City Hall before 8 p.m. on Aug. 6, or by putting them in the mail at least seven days before Election Day.

Residents who already applied for an absentee ballot should have received them in the mail in early July, officials said.

Those interested in a Primary Election absentee ballot can request one in person until 4 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Ann Arbor City Clerk’s office at 301 E. Huron St.
