Crash involving semi truck carrying steel coils seriously injures 1 outside Ann Arbor

Westbound lanes closed for several hours

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A crash outside Ann Arbor shut down a stretch of I-94 for several hours Monday, Nov. 18.

According to authorities, the crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. on the westbound lanes of I-94 near Stone School Road, just before the State Street exit. Fire crews said they arrived to find several damaged vehicles, including a semi truck that was carrying steel coils that had rolled over.

One person was seriously injured and needed to be extricated from a vehicle using the Jaws of Life.

The crash closed down the westbound lanes for several hours for cleanup. It reopened to normal traffic at about 11 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Michigan State Police.
