Suspect arrested by Ann Arbor police after stealing fire truck in broad daylight

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ann Arbor police arrested a suspect who stole a fire truck in broad daylight.

The theft occurred on Friday (Feb. 14) at 1 p.m. while firefighters were on a detail.

Officials said the person, who was unknown to the Scio Township Fire Department, entered one of their fire engines and drove it away.

Firefighters called the police to report the incident and located the engine traveling east of Jackson Avenue in Ann Arbor.

The Ann Arbor Police Department and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched before stopping the truck near Jackson Avenue and Lakeview Drive.

The suspect was detained and turned over to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.
