Smoking believed to be source of Ann Arbor apartment fire

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Authorities believe an apartment fire in Ann Arbor may have been caused by someone smoking.

It happened Monday, March 10, just after 10:30 p.m. at a complex on Pittsfield Boulevard, a few blocks east of Platt Road and Packard Street. According to authorities, fire crews were able to extinguish the fire, which only caused damage to two units.

Fire damage is estimated to be about $250,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities believe it could be smoking related.
