$5K reward offered for tips after dog found abandoned in Ann Arbor dumpster

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – PETA has offered a $5,000 reward for information after someone abandoned a dog in a dumpster in Ann Arbor.

According to authorities, a mostly-white furred male pit bull mix was found Tuesday, March 25, inside a dumpster off Wolverine Drive, off Platt Road. He was not wearing a collar and had no microchip.

The dog, believed to be 10 years old, was found by a Good Samaritan who called the police.

Police said it has a large abscess or tumor on the left side of its ribs.

Officers worked with Washtenaw County Animal Control to safely lift the dog out of the dumpster because he could not stand on his own. It was taken to the Humane Society of Huron Valley for medical treatment.

They are currently asking for donations to care for the dog, who they describe as “nervous, but very sweet.

PETA is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for abandoning the dog in the dumpster.
