House divided: 1 family, 2 teams, endless bragging rights in U of M vs. MSU football game

Jacquise and Jasmine say they’ll both be there to cheer on their teams

Mom Jacquise Purifoy is a proud University of Michigan graduate, dressed head to toe in maize and blue.

Her daughter Jasmine is a Michigan State University student, proudly representing the green and white.

The Paul Bunyan Trophy is on the line once again as the Wolverines travel to East Lansing to face the Spartans on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.

Jacquise and Jasmine say they’ll both be there to cheer on their teams.

Their family rivalry runs deep, but it’s all love and all about bragging rights heading into game day.

“We didn’t have participation trophies when you grow up, either you was a winner or a loser.

That’s how I look at it. When we pull the stats, the University of Michigan, we have more wins than MSU, period.

So I don’t know how people can continue to chant for a losing team. I just don’t get it. How can you be so happy to be second? It just doesn’t work that way.”

Jacquise

“It’s okay. They’re going to be like that. They are going to be a little snobby and, oh, I am so, no, it’s okay, you just pat them on the back, give them a cookie.

They’ll be all right. It’s all right, you just let them think what they want to think. Us at Michigan State, we know we’re the best.”
