Brides confront Oakland County store owner who defrauded them of dresses

PONTIAC, Mich. – Victims confronted the owner of a Birmingham bridal shop in court, accusing her of ruining their weddings by closing abruptly and leaving them without dresses.

Birmingham Bridal abruptly closed in September 2023 under the ownership of Nadica Ristivojevic. Customers were left without dresses and out of their money.

In total, victims were defrauded of approximately $40,000 - $50,000.

In court on Thursday, Jan. 23, the brides came face-to-face with the woman they gave thousands of dollars to, who took their cash and disappeared. It was an emotional day in court as brides directed their anger at Ristivojevic.

Ristivojevic, who pleaded no contest in October 2024, did not give an apology during her sentencing. She had already served 35 days behind bars, so Thursday’s sentencing was focused on restitution and making sure the brides got their money back.
