What began as a business and marketing assignment at Grosse Pointe North High School quickly grew into something bigger than product design.

Our first Go 4 It event of 2026 takes us to Oakland County, where we’re hosting a book drive to help young readers.

The “Go 4 it” spirit made a big appearance on Detroit’s east side, where families going through a hard time had a heavy weight lifted from their shoulders.

Focus: Hope has spent decades feeding Detroit families. Now it's also helping them build futures. The nonprofit's job training program is teaching students like Alana Buchanan manufacturing skills, robotics, and welding, giving people a first shot at a new career. Focus: Hope President and CEO Portia Roberson said the program places graduates in living-wage jobs and, according to her, changes the course of their lives.

Property taxes can be a heavy burden for families across Metro Detroit, and falling behind can put a home at risk of foreclosure. That’s why nonprofits, including the Gilbert Family Foundation, Rocket Community Fund, and Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency (Wayne Metro), are working to help thousands of Detroit homeowners get caught up through several property tax relief programs.

On April 15, we collected new or gently used sneakers and new socks for boys ages 11 to 17 at the Corner Ballpark in partnership with Detroit PAL.

Local 4 partnered with Detroit PAL for this month’s Go 4 It event to collect new and gently used basketball shoes for young athletes. Donations are being accepted at the Corner Ballpark in Detroit until 6 p.m.

Metro Detroit residents showed up at the Corner Ballpark in Detroit to donate new and gently used basketball shoes for young athletes. The drive is part of Local 4’s Hoop for Dreams Go 4 it event.

Local 4 is working with the Detroit Police Athletic League to help ensure young boys who want to play basketball have what they need to make their "Hoop Dreams" come true. We've received more than 264 pairs of shoes on Wednesday, April 15, and more than $3,000 in donations.
