When it comes to Valentine’s Day, it’s typically all about romance and showing that person you love how special they are. But, we all know that we love people in many different ways beyond romance. So, this Valentine’s Day don’t be afraid to take the romance out of the occasion and share your love with everyone from a co-worker to a friend to your parents.
“Our concept this year is ‘Lot’s of love, no romance’,” said Mary Liz Curtin, owner of Leon & Lulu and Three Cats Café in Clawson. She joined “Live In The D” to share some ideas that go beyond romantic gifts this year. One suggestion she had is pairing things up to give something a little extra. Her ideas ranged from putting some Michigan-made treats in a mug and leaving it on a co-worker’s desk, to a combo-gift of a wine glass and a gift certificate to a restaurant for a friend.
Another gift she suggested, for those who may be a little older that you want to show appreciation for, is a stuffed animal that can be heated or cooled. “It’s something you can snuggle, you can put behind your neck, and it lets somebody know you love them all year long,” said Curtin.
