Preparing your home to welcome a new pet

Adding a pet to your family can be easier with these simple steps to help you get ready.

The idea of adopting a pet is something that can fill you with excitement, and there are steps you can take to be prepared for the new addition that will help both you and your new furry family member. Devan Bianco, from Michigan Humane, joined “Live In The D” host Tati Amare and guest host Jasen Magic to share some advice.

First, Bianco suggests that you make purchases including bedding, food dishes, and toys, before your new pet comes home.

She also advises that you get an adjustable collar or harness if your new pet happens to be a puppy. That way it expands as the puppy matures.

Finally, Bianco says starting the pet off in a small area of your home can be helpful because it allows the pet to adjust to their new environment a little bit at a time.

If you’re looking for a new pet there is a special adoption event happening this weekend that Michigan Humane is taking part of. It’s in partnership with PetSmart for National Adoption Week which runs through Sunday. You can visit the location in Roseville where Michigan Human will be holding adoptions all week.

This week’s Pet Of The Week is Bruce Wayne, a on-year-old cat who loves to cuddle. The Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fees for whoever adopts today’s pet.
