Kick off Black History Month with “More Than Just A Voice.” This special concert is a tribute to the impact of Detroit’s very own Aretha Franklin.
The featured performer in the is Alise King, who had the opportunity to work with Aretha Franklin. The show is based off of the musical legends that contributed to the Civil Rights movement. King wants to recognize these artists who stood next to key leaders during the movement.
King has contributed towards music history with not only writing songs for Aretha Franklin, but also being one of the 12 female artists from Detroit to be picked to tribute her. She even had the opportunity to open for Aretha Franklin’s last performance in Detroit.
You can catch “More Than Just A Voice” at Aretha’s Jazz Cafe in Detroit with live music starting at 8:30 p.m. tonight.
