We’re all feeling the chilly temps in Southeast Michigan, and that includes our furry friends. Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane stopped by “Live in the D” to share how you can protect pets from the cold winter weather.
“If it’s cold outside, if it’s possible bring your pets inside,” Vesterfelt said.
She said if it’s not possible to bring pets inside, make sure they have food, water (not frozen), and adequate shelter to help keep them warm.
She also gave the following tips to keeping pets safe during the winter.
-Keep pets coats (fur) long.
-Protect paws with paw wax or booties.
-Dry paws once pets come in from the cold.
-Keep up calories.
-Beware that antifreeze can be deadly.
