Connect through tech

Detroiters can learn and innovate through technology at this event

When starting a new skill, it can be helpful to have people to guide you. The organization, Black Tech Saturdays, strives to help the Black community in the tech space.

“Black Tech Saturdays started off as five of us meeting in conference rooms because we would go to a lot of tech events, and we wouldn’t really see a lot of us represented. It started to create this narrative that Black people weren’t in technology. Then we started Black Tech Saturdays, and I think our minds started to break because we grew from five people to ten and now, we have 500,” said Johnnie Turnage, Co-founder of Black Tech Saturdays.

At these events, people can both learn and connect through talking about technology. There are workshops for beginners to experts, providing a space for people with differing skill levels.
