Red Wings alumni are coming together for a special event in Fraser

Two different games will benefit charity this Saturday

Red Wings Alumni and alumni from the Montreal Canadiens will face off on the ice this weekend in Fraser for a charity event. The Original Six Alumni Matchup happens Saturday and Big Boy Ice Arena. Two alumni appeared on “Live In The D” to share about the event and what fans can expect.

“You know it’s a lot of fun. I get to run into guys that I haven’t seen in 20 to 25 years that I played with in Quebec. It’s a big reunion and it’s always a lot of fun,” said John Orgrodnick, a Red Wing Alumni. “We don’t move as fast anymore, but we still know how to move the puck.”

Two different games will take place on the ice starting with a sled hockey game followed by the alumni game. “It’s between team Canada and team USA,” said Dave Lewis, former Red Wings player and NHL coach. “Vladimir Konstantinov will be playing for team USA in sled hockey. So, to see him on the ice again after that terrible accident in ‘97 when we won the (Stanley) Cup, it’s nice to see him enjoying himself out there.”

The game that follows will be the alumni game with former players from both teams.

In addition to the game, the Stanley Cup will also be on display, there will be an interactive exhibit from the Hockey Hall of Fame, concessions, and much more.

The entire event benefits charity with proceeds going to The Judson Center and the Epilepsy Foundation of Kentuckiana.
