Walking the dog has benefits for both furry friends and their humans
January is Walk Your Dog Month, so why not kick off the year with a new walking routine?
Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane shared the benefits for both pets and pet parents.
Benefits include:
Increased cardiovascular health
Keeping muscles and bones mobile as you age
Lowering blood pressure and stress levels
Strengthening your bond with your dog
Allowing dogs to decompress
When it comes to having an enjoyable walk, Lidia suggests letting your dog lead the way. The reason is that this provides your dog a choice and lets them smell new things.
