BBQ Central will celebrate 313 Day on Friday with a one-pound rib tip special for $3.13, available all day until sold out, owner Denita Ramsey said.
“Detroit is just barbecue. That’s our nostalgia,” Ramsey said during an appearance on Live in the D. “It’s been that way for years when I grew up … it’s about the culture we have and what we represent in Detroit.”
Ramsey launched BBQ Central amid the pandemic and says the restaurant is now seven years in. She credits Detroiters for helping the business thrive. “We do everything pretty much every day, and we just try to continue to strive for perfection for those who support Barbecue Central,” she said. “I’ve got to just say thank you to those who have continued to support us through these years.”
The menu leans classic and soul-food inspired. “I am the home of the beef ribs. I’m one of the only barbecue places in Detroit that’s doing the beef ribs,” Ramsey said. Lighter options include grilled salmon and grilled wings, along with turkey chops.
Sides are a draw, too, with cabbage cooked with turkey, yams, veggie baked beans and mac and cheese. “My favorite side is the veggies baked beans. They are so delicious,” Ramsey said.
Of the 313 Day promotion, Ramsey added: “We’re going to celebrate it by doing rib tips all day for $3.13 until sold out.” Doors open at 11 a.m.
