These 5 foods are packed with essential nutrients

Nutrition expert reveals foods that can replace some daily supplements

Many of us reach for a daily multivitamin to help fill nutritional gaps, but what if some of those essential nutrients could come straight from our plates?

Fitness and nutrition expert Jody Trierweiler appeared on “Live in the D” to share how to get more of what our bodies need from real food and rely less on supplements when possible.

“Supplement means to support a healthy, nutritious diet,” Jody said.

She focused focused on the benefits of:

  • Flax seed for Omega-3
  • Kefir for probiotics
  • Brazil nuts for selenium
  • Pumpkin seeds for magnesium
  • Eggs for a multivitamin alternative

Jody said that multivitamins can still play a role for people with a confirmed deficiency.
