Man shot to death near burning car in Port Huron identified by police

PORT HURON, Mich. – Police in Port Huron have identified the man found dead with multiple gunshot wounds vehicle early Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, police responded to report of a vehicle fire on Vanness Street just after midnight Tuesday, Jan. 28. With the help of the Port Huron Fire Department, they were able to put out the flames.

Roughly 15 minutes after the first call, police received a call reporting a man who may have been shot, just a few blocks east on the same street. Police said they found a 35-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

He has since been identified as Vincent Buckles.

Investigators believe the vehicle fire may have been a result of arson. They are working to determine if the suspected arson and Buckles’ death are connected.
