WESTLAND, Mich. – A popular hill for sledding in Wayne County has been closed after multiple people were injured.
It happened at Hines Park in Westland.
According to authorities, a young girl was injured sledding on Middlebelt Hill, also known as Deadman’s Hill, on Wednesday, Feb. 19. She was the third person seriously injured on the hill this week.
One woman -- only identified as Jessica from Garden City -- was injured while sledding with her daughter. Family members said she went head-first into a tree, causing multiple fractures in her face and back and a traumatic brain injury.
She reportedly suffered a stroke and doctors had to remove part of her skull. She remains in a medically induced coma.

Barricades have been put in place to block off the parking lots and access to Middlebelt Hill. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is urging people to not go around the barricades and that they will issue citations for people ignoring the closure.
