Fraudsters dupe man into handing over $30K in Troy ‘Microsoft’ scam

Police are investigating the incident

TROY, Mich. – A man said he was contacted by fraudsters claiming to be from Microsoft who said he needed to repay money that he owed due to an error.

The man said he was instructed to withdraw $30,000 from his bank accounts on Feb. 27, 2025.

The man said two people then came to his house located in the 1300 block of Wrenwood Drive to collect $10,000 each.

Police said the victim met a third person in a parking lot to collect the remaining $10,000.

Police said they are investigating the incident and are urging residents to be cautious of similar scams.
