Police said the man was unresponsive after suffering a head injury when they arrived on the scene.

Officials said the rider was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

A private ambulance service, which happened to be on the scene upon the collision, provided lifesaving measures to the rider, transporting him to a Metro Detroit hospital.

The 24-year-old man succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital. The incident is currently under investigation, although preliminary findings suggest that speed on the part of the rider was likely a factor in the collision.
