DETROIT – A destination that blends craft meats, butchery and dining together is opening next month in Eastern Market.

Marrow in the Market opens to the public Nov. 13 with a 4 p.m. ribbon cutting, followed by dinner service.

Marrow in the Market is located at 2442 Riopelle and houses Marrow Detroit Provisions meat processing facility and butcher shop, two bars and a dining room and a private event space.

Marrow in the Market is from restaurateur and Detroiter Ping Ho’s Marrow Hospitality Group. Ho is the owner of the Royce, a downtown Detroit wine bar, Marrow, the award-winning restaurant and neighborhood butchery shop in Detroit’s West Village, and Marrow Birmingham on Hamilton Row in Birmingham. She is also a co-founder of the Mink in Corktown.

Built in 1909, the historic building was once a one-story structure with a second floor added in 2016. Before Ho and Marrow owners purchased the building in 2021, Capital Poultry occupied it.

Marrow in Market will produce various raw meat cuts from its full-service butcher shop and specialty items. Shoppers can expect fresh meats, dry-aged steaks, its signature sausage, handcrafted deli cuts and gourmet offerings. The facility will also be a research and development arm to other Marrow locations.

Inside, customers will have a glimpse into the market’s processing facility through a window. The butcher shop will offer lunch for dine-in or carry out featuring a rotating menu of signature sandwiches, rotisserie chicken and grilled meats. The restaurant will host dining experiences, educational events, themed dinners and weekend brunch.
