MESICK, Mich. – The Christmas tree for this year’s Detroit Tree Lighting has been harvested, and it began its journey to Downtown Detroit.
On Monday morning, Local 4 made the trek up to Mesick, Michigan, which is in the northwestern part of the Lower Peninsula.
There, we watched as the 62-foot Norway Spruce chosen for Campus Martius this holiday season as it was harvested and loaded onto a flat bed to make the 200-mile journey back to Downtown Detroit.
It will arrive downtown on Wednesday, via Amazon Prime.
This year, you can watch the 22nd annual Detroit Tree Lighting on WDIV. It’s presented by the DTE Energy Foundation and produced by the Downtown Detroit Partnership.
Our two-hour special will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 21, 2025, from Campus Martius.
