Here’s how to score the best deals on Black Friday

187 million Americans plan to shop the Thanksgiving weekend, according to National Retail Federation

The Campus Martius tree is officially lit, and this Thursday, floats will roll down Woodward for America’s Thanksgiving Parade -- That means Friday marks the start of the holiday shopping rush.

According to the National Retail Federation, 187 million Americans plan to shop the Thanksgiving weekend, with 130 million Americans shopping on Black Friday.

The National Retail Federation also said holiday spending is expected to surpass $1 trillion for the first time during November and December, with nearly $12 billion estimated to be spent on Black Friday alone.

But the days of crowding into stores are fading. Online and mobile have surpassed traditional shopping, even on Black Friday.

So, what’s the better deal: Heading to the store or shopping from your couch?
