A task force assembled to reduce gun violence in Michigan released a report of recommendations on Monday.
The report was released just days before the fourth anniversary of the Oxford High School shooting.
The task force included community leaders, state departments, medical experts, members of law enforcement and more. They spent the last year working on solutions, and the report was released on Nov. 24.
Among the recommendations require waiting periods for gun purchases, increase the eligible age of gun purchases to 21, strengthen school safety bills and standardize training for school resource officers.
They also want to ban the sale and possession of assault weapons.
Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, the Chief Medical Executive for Michigan, joined Local 4 Live to talk about the recommendations and what comes next. You can watch the full interview at the beginning of this article.
