BRUCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police are investigating a head-on crash in Macomb County that killed a young girl and seriously injured three other people.

It happened at about 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 27, on Van Dyke Avenue in Bruce Township.
According to authorities, the driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Impala was heading southbound with his 2-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter when they crossed over into the northbound lanes. One northbound vehicle was able to swerve out of the way, but the car behind it was struck head-on.
The driver of the northbound car, an 18-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, as was the Impala’s driver and the 2-year-old boy.
A 3-year-old girl died at the scene.
Police said there was no evidence of braking before the crash. The reason the Impala crossed into oncoming traffic is unknown, but police have taken a blood draw as part of the investigation.
