PONTIAC, Mich. – A Pontiac family is grieving after their loved one was found shot and killed inside his car this past weekend.
Antonio Craig was found Saturday night, Nov. 29, and his step-son, Terrell Quayshawn Edwards, 26, is accused of pulling the trigger.
Police say Edwards fired five shots, hitting Craig four times.
Officers tracked Edwards after the shooting thanks to FLOCK shot spotter technology and video from doorbell cameras.
At a vigil on Dec. 3, Craig’s son described the family as broken by the loss.
“He was known as a Superman,” said Craig’s daughter, Ashlee Craig, recalling her father’s personality. “He had four children and 11 grandchildren. He was full of life, joy, encouragement, and wisdom.”
Ashlee said she found her father after the shooting and was overwhelmed with grief.
“My mind went blank. I had to pull over. I’m still lost for words. It just doesn’t make sense,” said Antonio Craig, Jr., who was driving when he got the news.
The family struggled to understand why Edwards would do this.
“It’s unbelievable. It doesn’t make sense. It could be jealousy or hatred,” Antonio Jr. said. “Maybe drugs or hallucinations. I don’t know.”
Despite the pain, the family found comfort in the community support at the vigil.
Antonio Jr. wanted people to remember his father as a genuine, loyal, and loving man who would give anything to help others.
Edwards has been charged with first-degree murder as well as two counts of felony firearm and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
First-degree murder is punishable by life without parole.
Felony Firearm is punishable by two years in prison, served consecutively with any other sentence.
A felon in possession of a firearm is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $5000 fine.
