ROMULUS, Mich. – Delta Air Lines flights at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) are under a ground delay Friday morning. Here’s what we know so far.

UPDATE: Ground delay lifted, no active alerts at DTW

What happened

Computer issues led to a ground stop for all Delta Air Lines flights. That ground stop has now been updated to a “ground delay,” as of around 9 a.m. Friday.

The computer problem was making it difficult for passengers to check into their flights. A Local 4 producer who had checked into his flight the night before was able to get through security into the McNamara Terminal.

When will it end?

Local 4 started receiving calls around 5 a.m. from people who were having problems at DTW.

The ground stop was originally in effect until 7 a.m. Friday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. It was extended to 9 a.m.

Just before 9 a.m. Friday, the ground stop was changed to a “ground delay” that has most Delta flights delayed an average of 2 hours and 40 minutes, according to the FAA.

The ground delay is currently in effect until 2:59 p.m. Friday.

Who is affected?

The ground delay only affects Delta Air Lines flights -- both to and from DTW.

This includes Delta subsidiaries.

The issues caused long lines and stopping check-ins for passengers.
