ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Students at Oakland University are facing an extended heat outage after a third leak was discovered in the hot water system.
The university announced the new leak on Tuesday (Dec. 9) night, adding to two previous leaks that had already forced the closure of more than 20 buildings.
The Kresge Library will now remain closed for the rest of the year due to the ongoing heating problems.
Despite the lack of heat, fall commencement ceremonies will proceed as planned.
University officials had hoped to resolve the heating issues by Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, but it is unclear if the latest leak will cause further delays.
