The countdown is on to the 2026 midterm elections.
Absentee ballots will be available to voters beginning Sept. 24.
If you’re not on the permanent absentee ballot list, you can request an absentee ballot online, by mail, or at your local clerk’s office.
Election officials recommend requesting an absentee ballot at least two weeks before the election.
Oct. 19 is the last day to register to vote by mail or online.
After that, you’ll need to register in person at your clerk’s office through Election Day.
Michigan’s mandatory early voting period begins on the second Saturday before Election Day and ends on the Sunday before the election. Communities may provide early voting on the Monday before Election Day.
This year, early voting goes from Oct. 24 to Nov. 1 in most communities. You can find your early voting site here.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
