Tuesday, Sept. 22, is the official start of fall.
Last week, USA Today’s Best Awards named the entire Upper Peninsula the best destination for fall colors in America.
With about 7 million acres of forest along the shores of three Great Lakes, the changing leaves are the main event each fall. The Upper Peninsula has 10 different fall color routes, covering nearly 1,500 miles. That means endless opportunities to get out and soak it all in.
But could this year’s road trip look a little different?
Julie Crick, a natural resources educator in the Michigan State University Department of Forestry, joined Local 4 Live to talk about the weather affecting fall colors.
